Keith my man, well said. I/Jon and I are very similar, we wanted a 2 hat and
to go fast as well, fast being relative, but anything with a 1 in front of it
would have worked this trip. And yes we to are proud of our shoestring budget,
but gotta admit, like you learned a new word (or 2) like aluminum for heads and
Rodeck for blocks, this trek to our endavor of pursuing speed taught us a new
word, CARRILLO, for rods. 191.8 was the record, we ran 198.555 off the trailer
in the FIRST mile. Went to impound, and in morning broke a rod before I got
past the 1.3 mile marker. Upon further inspection, (after the fire from the rod
exiting the cases and melting some new bodywork and wiring) we found the
remaining 3 rods ALL severely bent AND twisted.

But according to Dahlgren at least we are getting close to "Racey" nitrous
usage, motor made between 90-103 hp normally aspirated, and we gave it a 130hp
shot (for awhile). The thing was we also made these runs on stock rods that had
over 22,000 street miles and nitrous runs at Bonneville since 94.

Anyway the trip was worth it for many reasons. Primarily because of the ability
to learn. I have never been much of a spectator at anything, thank god I had to
suck it up a little and hang out the last 2 days, because pestering you and
Timney and Beckett, and Lionel was very enjoyable. And the highlight had to be
bouncing things off Dahlgrens head, that really meant alot to me Mr. Dahlgren,
ALOT. Thanks everybody

Joe (thanks to WOS I got to learn about Carrillos one year sooner) Amo :)
