Mostly money! The insanity applies to any manufacturer you go with. Other
old cars have as many problems (if not more) than Datsuns. One reason I
enjoyed working on Chevy's when young, is that you can find the parts
anywhere (and cheap). But the damn old Chevy's had their share of problems.
Likewise with most other makes. (On the other hand, new cars cost a fortune
for maintenance, more than you'll spend on a roadster.)
Datsun roadsters aren't for the faint of heart, because of the
parts-availability/money issue. But I'm not going back to Chevy's. Because
Datsun roadsters are far more unique, feel better and turn heads where ever
you go. And once you nail down the basics they can be very dependable
(multiple thousand-mile trips confirm that). Work on the mechanicals until
it's right, then do the cosmetics and turn those heads!
