I second Roland's suggestion of heat and tapping with a hammer.  On my
Healey there are some bolts that pass through the intake and exhaust
manifolds.  The bolts are really a problem because they are long and twist
apart easily, pass through an alloy casting, and terminate in the exhaust
manifold. Anyway, while trying to remove them, I broke one off and decided
to bring the whole assembly to my local machine shop to see what they could
do.  The machinist simply put the thing in a vice and started tapping and
rocking the bolts with a socket.  One by one, all the bolts came out.
Remember, when trying to break a bolt or nut free, you can twist in both
directions.

P.S. And be sure to use a really crappy adjustable wrench or worn-out vice
grips; don't waste your time with a nice tight fitting 6 point socket :-)
