Two other points for happy and long lasting pump. Add the diode
that squelchs back EMF and add the capacitor which reduces point arching.
Both of these measures GREATLY reduces the point arcing. Double check
all of this with Pat V before proceeding, however :-).
NOTE: THE DIRECTION OF THE DIODE CHANGES WHETHER YOU ARE POSITIVE OR
NEGATIVE GROUND. BTW, I believe this is the only difference between the
postive and negative ground pumps that are sold.
Now what I really want to do is make a nifty optical electronic circuit
and punt the points altogether a la highly expensive Australian modification.
Some day I'll do this and sell little boards (at cost) to all the poor
members of the b-cars mailing list :-).
