I vaguely remember seeing an American car in England with
side mirrors on the door the way they came from the factory
and also mirrors out on the fender near the wheel wells.  I
mentioned it to an Englishman and he informed me that it was
a law in England that mirrors must be mounted on the fender.
This occurred in 1972.  Was/is this a law or am I going over 
the edge?!
