The steady, or periodic flow of current through a connection will
"seal" the connection. The telephone industry has for years
applied a "sealingcurrent" to circuits to keep the connections
good on important circuits. An electrical connection that has
no current flow for a long period of time can corrode which
is the problem that I've seen on many cars that have been left
idle/stored for long periods.
