> * the SCCA just doesn't want autocrossing on TV
I am all but certain that the SCCA doesn't care to market
autocrossing via TV. Friday evening, I was watching a Pro Rally
event and a World Challenge race on Speedvision (my Friday life sucks
:-( ). There was a brief SCCA commercial during one broadcast. It
was ALL road racing. Spec Racers and corner workers were prominent.
It looked like the entire footage was filmed at a regional road race
but that's IMHO.
Now, I admit that road racing is a big part of the club. Spec
Racers have a good thing going. Corner working is a great thing to
do. My dad really digs it. I have worked corners at the Houston
Grand Prix for two years now (pics at

Would it KILL the SCCA to feature autox in _any_ way? I
guarantee that Joe and Jane Shmoe can identify more with autocrossing
an E Stock Honda than racing a Spec Racer. Show me _one_ person
with no knowledge of the SCCA that can _identify_ a Spec Racer, let
alone think that the SCCA is worth joining just because they see a
spec racer doing a victory lap with applauding corner workers. I bet
a cheap survey in a mall would produce numbers that support my
opinion.
Does the SCCA as a corporate entity market autox in ANY media?
Was Danielle Engstrom hired to do anything about my perceived
shortcoming? I hope this wasn't too long-winded but I had to vent.
