So, I go to mess with the car today and now the starter won't even click. I
decide to take the battery out and have it tested. It ended up being shot,
so I get a replacement. I get home and install the battery and I am getting
the same clicking sound with no start. I then notice that the rear tail
lamps and the gauge lights are on without the key being on. I decide to
take a look at the wiring diagram and notice that the lead that plugs into
the bottom of the battery cable connector powers this circuit. I also
notice that when I unplug this lead the starter won't make the clicking
noise. Obviously there is a problem with my wiring here. The attachments
to the starter are a little corroded. Do I need a complete wiring harness,
or would a new positive battery lead solve the problem. Also, where is the
best place to purchase a new wiring harness?
Thanks,
Cary Henry
