Bob Lang is correct as usual with what he wrote above. The absolute first
thing anyone should think of upgrading on their TR6s are the tires.
A good set of tires will maximize the potential of your brakes, suspension,
and also make better use of a high output engine.
My current tire favorites for the street? In this order, Bridgestone
Potenza RE950s and then BF Goodrich Traction T/As. The Potenzas RE950s are
a very grippy street tire, and both choices will give you good tire life.
Both are also all season tires (albeit High Performance All Season), so if
you get caught in a sudden rain or snow storm, you will not have any worries
about the rubber you chose to clad your TR6 wheels in. I have used the
RE950s and the Traction T/As year round on multiple vehicles and either tire
was above and beyond other tires I have had experience with.
I guarantee you that besides improving the braking and suspension systems of
your vehicle, really good tires are also going to tremendously increase the
number of times you smile when you drive your favorite twisty road!
