Well there's a bummer. All I have left is the larger radiator hoses. I
thought sure I had the heater hoses, but now that I think of it, I
disconnected them from the firewall and left them connected to the
engine. They all got cut up and thrown away when the engine builders
dismantled the engine. It was late and we were in a hurry. I didn't
think to say anything about saving them and when I looked they were cut
up, so we threw them away. As they say never throw away anything. I
never thought of trying to duplicate them.
Anyway the larger radiator hoses have yellow and black stripes, and both
the yellow and black stripe are both 1/2" wide. The pitch of the spiral
is also 1/2" -- the width of a stripe. Let me see if I can explain this:
Like so: //////// where the slash is a yellow stripe and the space is a
black stripe and they are both 1/2" wide. A North-South line would touch
the right side of the top of the first yellow stripe (slash), and the
left side of the bottom of the second yellow stripe (slash).
It also looks like the stripes were added when the hose material was
straight, and the bends were formed later, because the width of the
stripes get a little wider on the outside radius and a little smaller on
the inside radius. The 1/2" measurement was taken along the side of the
hose that was not bent.
Too bad about those heater hoses. Maybe someone else has some. Or maybe
we can see some at the TRF party.
Marhyde and duplicolor sell vinyl and fabric paint for car interiors but
no bright yellow. Maybe a hobby shop would have something. The rubber
paints I see are "rubberized" meaning thick.
These hoses are not smooth rubber. They have an impregnated canvas look
to them -- I suppose similar to the TRF green hoses, and maybe the black
ones -- I have never seen either.
