Okay, for God's sake, I can't take it anymore. Jim, this is supposed
to be a list to share information and help people solve technical
problems. Most of your comments make no sense and don't help anyone.
And to attack Dick Taylor? What are you, nuts? This guy displays more
Triumph (and general automotive) knowledge on this list than you ever
have (and ever will, unless you change your writing style [assuming
actually possess the knowledge that you like to allude to in your
keystrokes]). In addition, Dick knows how to explain it all
succinctly. He gets right to the point, his advice is useful, he is
always courteous, and he never makes the lister feel stupid for asking
their question.
Let's look at your first comment. "Your rockers will work!". What the
heck is that supposed to mean? Nick is concerned about the fact that
his rocker tip is not centered on the valve in the plane perpendicular
to the rocker shaft. All you needed to do was explain that a rocker
arm moves in an arc, and therefore the tip will move across the valve
stem when moving through this arc, which therefore means that the
rocker tip can only be centered on the valve stem at one point in its
arc, and so there is no real value in checking this centering. See how
easy that was? Not to mention the fact that Dick had already explained
this to Nick in his earlier email.
And your comment "I don't want to open another can of worms; but please
speak only from direct experience! Others will likely spend countless
hours chasing their tails for nothing other than the supposed wisdom of
someone's thoughts and theories!!!" There's nothing magical about what
Dick was explaining. It's just basic geometry. You don't need to be
able to design rockers and program a CNC machine to explain the concept
of an arc (and you're no rocket scientist, pal). I hardly see how
Dick's email would lead to Nick chase his tail for countless hours.
In fact, in reading through your email, I find that there isn't a
single piece of advice or knowledge relayed to the reader (it's true,
read each sentence, not a single piece of valuable advice). The only
piece of the message that can even hint at real content is where you
corrected Dick regarding the radius of an arc. Bravo for that one by
the way, it was quite a revelation.
Please quit with the meaningless comments, as well as the rude ones.
No one appreciates it. Most of the time I wince when I read your
emails. I think your "humor" (if that's what you like to call it)
appeals to a very small minority on this list. My guess is the only
thing keeping you afloat at this point is the lure of your cheap roller
rockers. But since you have yet to deliver on the majority of your
orders, I think this balloon will deflate rather quickly, and you'll
soon find yourself chased out by a cyber-mob.
PS: Also, what is with your affinity with exclamation points?!!!
