Bob,

Jim & Mark

Hit it right on the nail head regarding your TWITCH!

Jim, nice job on your car! Fantastic paint work!

Best regards,

Jim Swarthout

Wow! Not normal - or safe! I'd be looking at rear swing arm
mounts/bushings, diffy mounts, U-joints. TR-6 rear suspension is not
sophisticated, but it works well when it's all in good order.

Bob,
I think at least part, if not all of your twitching problem is worn
control arm bushings. Replace the bushings and shock end links with
urethane bushings and I'll bet that squirming rear end will go away. By
the way, if your rear bushings are that bad, the front suspension
bushings are worn also, so you might want to replace those soon also.
You'll be pleasantly shocked at how well your 6 handles when you do.
Is your fuel pump leaking? There is a metal gauze filter accessible when
you remove the top cover. Order a rebuild kit because the pump usually
leaks at the cover seal when disturbed. Be careful to not overtighten
the cover when replacing the filter and gasket. I've never had an
original pump quit pumping fuel, just leaks. Have you removed a fuel
line after the pump, attached a long fuel line with one end in a can or
jar and cranked the engine to see if the pump is pumping properly? If
not I'd do so. Replacement pumps, both mechanical and electric are
available from the big 3.

Good luck,

My old BuddyS,I am 74-6 driver and this past weekend while on 200 mile
road
trip with other LBC owners in Ind.Wile on this first road trip for my
-6,driver
behind me sees that my -6 is crabing slighly to right[stears ok] and I
have
found that while going over bumps in road car twitches to the right. Can
this be
corrected in a -6,I have new tires[215/70s] if so,how??? Second prob:
also on
this drive, first at highway speeds the car started surging and eng lost
its
power[not mis-fireing tho] just a fall off in power.Later in the day[75
miles
later] at much lower speeds eng did much the same,so,WE changed
filter[filthy]NOW drove car home but could see from NEW filter that pump
was pushing very
little gas,but was pumping enough to run eng.Old pump has tickler handle
on
botton side pump,is this a factory pump??? Is there a wire mesh screen
in top of
pump?? AND pumps well when eng is cold,as it did this morrning, hot just
a
dribble.YOUR THOUGHTS AND THANKS from Bob Arnett
