List,
Ryan VanLuchene and I have compiled a list of 21 clutch bearings. Some
folks wanted more than one.
I e-mailed Joachim Gunst about shipping and availability of 21 bearings.
He has the bearings available, but is having trouble sourcing the two
3/8" dowels that serve to align the gearbox with the flywheel and
clutch. If you read Nelson Riedel's write-up of the Gunst bearing at
http://www.buckeyetriumphs.org/technical/Clutch/ReliableClutch/ReliableClutch.htm
you will see that Nelson believes that 3/8" bolts will work just as
well. In the attached note from Gunst, he says that these dowels should
be 3/8" in diameter and 7/8" in length. He says that Nelson told him
they could be easily purchased in any hardware store, which I'm sure
they can. Just thought I should point that out. My guess is that some or
all the kits will come w/o the dowels.
I would like to wrap this up by Monday 03/20/03 and get the order in.
At 21 bearings we are just over the next weight plateau which was 20
bearings. For 21 bearings it will be about $2.85 for ground and $6.23
for air (each). I have heard that ground can take 5 weeks. FWIW, 33
bearings would cost $1.81 ground and $3.96 air (each). If we go over 33
bearings, we get to play this game again :-). These shipping costs are
in EUR which are very close to dollars 1 EUR = $1.04.
I won't need my bearing for months, but my vote is for air. There will
also be some shipping charge from me to you. I hope $5.00 or less --
whatever it costs by USPS. I will make no money from it.
I will want full payment before I ship them to you. I had planned to put
them on my Visa, but I didn't expect 21 bearings. I may ask for partial
payment before I order -- not sure about that. I'll ask Nelson how he
did it. I'm planning on some heavy duty parts ordering for my TR250, so
I may have to watch my Visa level.
So, Monday 03/20/03 is the day.

Hallo Don, hallo Ryan
it's a real pleasure to read your message. It seems to be time for me to
find a distributer for the north american market. Nelson already gave me
some hints but I did't care yet. My shop left a little time only.
First your question from last email: I have problems at the moment to get
the dowels. I talked about that to Nelson and he said it is not a problem to
get those dowels in any hardware shop for a few cents. They have to have a
3/8" diameter and length should be about 7/8".
Right now I have still enough bearing units in stock.
Here now the shipping cost.
Ground/Air (EUR): > up to 6 bearings 28,00/43,00 (4,66/7,16 each) >up to
13.....36,00/65,00 (2,76/5.00each) >up to 20..... 44,00/87,00 (2,20/4,35
each) >up to 33..... 60,00/131,00 (1,82/3,96 each)
Kind regards
Joachim
