No can of worms at all...A great question.
Starting from the end of your message...
Cool air provides a denser mixture. There is actually more combustible
material in the cylinders...(Gas and air).
Inlet tubes must be carefully designed...an improper one is a detriment,
even if it does provide cool air. Sizing, turbulence from body
work...etc.
Unless you know of a system that has a proven design, stay with what you
have. If anyone's interested I would be glad to design and test such a
unit...and then let you all have a shot at it.
You may remember that some of the muscle cars of the late sixties had
hood scoops that functioned...from the factory...
Not only did this offer cooler outside air...it also provided a mild
supercharge at speed.

in diameter through one filter which will restrict air somewhat.
If I have two individual filter boxes that aren't restricted with the

single filter box setup, won't I be getting more air volume to the carbs

through a single tube which both carbs suck through?
Why is pulling warm air not as good as cool air from out side? I hope
