Howdy folks,
It's me again. I am now having the fun of learning about Zenith
Stromberg carbs. I have new kits in both and mechanical functions look
good (not much wear at all). I can't seem to get them to work well with
the choke off. I pull the choke out 3/4 and they start great, but it
needs to stay there in order for smooth acceleration. If I close the
choke after warmup, I get sputtering acceleration. Is this caused by
fuel starvation via lean mixture? I bought the carb adjusting tool from
TRF but it doesn't seem to fit the carbs. I have the late model carbs
3771 from a 75 TR6. The tool has an allen wrench type head, but the
carbs look like they have a different type of adjustment when I look
down at the needle base. It seems like the tool should have a recess to
go fit over the adjustment "tab" in the carb. Am I making any sense?
Thanks in advance, only one week more to car show and car still not ready!
