Mitch, and Co.---One of the advantages in the Weber carburetor is the
quick acceleration coming off of idle. This can't be (easily)
accomplished with any CD carb, because the air piston is in the way.
Once the engine gets about half way up the rpm band, the air piston
rises quickly, and the advantage of Weber-type carbs over CD types
diminishes. At this point, both types of carbs "flow" about the same
amount of air, other things being equal.
There is at least one other on the list who has gone with the TR4 type
carb. I believe he uses the BY2 needle(s).
