Neil:
It sounds like you may have glazed the pads. I don't have personal
experience with the EBC green stuff pads, but reports in the British car
press don't mention squealing (EBC has been on the market a little longer
in the UK than here in the US).
Did you clean the rotors off with brake cleaner spray before use but after
mounting? Usually, new rotors have a protective coating applied to keep
the rotors from rusting in storage and this needs to be removed before use
(as well as any greasy fingerprints from mounting). How did you bed them
in? A series of 10-12 low speed, very frequent stops works for me, then
let the car rest and cool down.
As option 2, your rotor run-out maybe excessive due to manufacturing
defect, improper mounting or loose wheel bearings.

Subject: Squealing front brakes
Hi Listers,
I've recently fitted uprated front brake pads (EBC green stuff, new brake
discs) and although they're excellent at stopping the car, they just will
not stop squealing when warm - and it's an eardrum piercing shriek that's
unbearable with the top
down..
It's still got the original anti-squeal shims in, and if I put any more
copper grease on the backs of the pads and shims
it's going to get places it shouldn't... has anyone ever had this problem or
got any ideas how to stop it ?
Thanks in advance,
Neil
