I had my head shaved to 3.39" which i have been told will give me around 9.8
compression. I read the competition manual and it talks about if you don't
deck the block you might lose .25 roughly . So anyway it should be around 9.6
maybe?
Now the problem. We went to put the rocker assembly on and with the pushrods
in place the pedestals don't even make it down to the top of the cylinder
head, not even close. I was told by a few guys that had done similar head
shaving i would not need shortened pushrods. I just ordered a set from British
Parts Northwest for $48., very good price by the way and also very helpful.
But i think they're about 1/8" shorter and i have a feeling thats not enough,
i;ll see tomorrow. He said i could make shims from shim stock if i need to for
bneath the pedestals just make sure and have an oil hole for the rear pedestal
shim drilled.
The main question is why would i need shorter pushrods? I talked to quite a
few guys about this beforehand trying to be prepared and was told this wasn't
needed.
Any help is appreciated. thanks
