Dear Craig and Rich: I agree with Craig concerning the use of the TR6 as a
daily driver. I owned a 73 (bought new ) many moons ago when I was a high
school teacher in Marshalltown, Iowa. It never broke down mechanically,
other than I went through several rubber motor mounts (too much hard
acceleration), and I always was replacing tail light bulbs. I also had the
usual water leakage through the window/top seals when it rained hard. Other
than that, the pimento red/black machine was indeed the last word in cool.
You would not believe the number of times I was asked by the disco babes of
the era for a ride. Even now, pulling into a gas station with my carmen
red/new tan toy turns heads, especially given the front British flag plate
and the Austin Powers flicks. Once this summer I had a car load of teenage
girls turn around, follow me two blocks and then cruise by shouting , "shag
me, baby!".....quite an ego boost for a 51 year old. I just love these cars,
even though the first thing passengers notice when riding over the usual
street bumps is the chiropractic adjustments the car offers free of charge.
Go for it, Baby. Bob Pierson 74 1/2
