I think that this actually may explain the discrepancy between the large =
gap in body numbers and the rather small gap in car/chassis numbers that =
exist between Lann's car and mine. It is my understanding that cars that =
were to become Varitones were shipped to Abingdon from Cowley (~6 miles) =
as standard ZB bodies. Abingdon would then look at the order sheets for =
Varitones and send the requisite number of bodies back to Cowley as =
painted shells. At Cowley, the rear window openings were modified (in =
what some refer to as a real "knife and fork" process) re-painted and =
sent back to Abingdon for final assembly. It stands to reason, if this =
is truly the case, that a Varitone body could have a build =
number/sequence that is quite a bit older than the non-Varitones that =
were right in front of and right behind a standard ZB on the final =
assembly line.

At any rate, this is a very interesting bit of Abingdon "old MG" lore...

occurred to me - it's a question that can be answered in three ways as I =
see it: should we include chassis numbers in the roster? &nbsp;We can =
say yes, no, or leave it up to the members. &nbsp;Granted that NAMGAR =
does the registration aspects of ZMG, but on occasion it might be handy =
and/or fun to have our own casual records. &nbsp;Maybe, for example, =
we'll discover we have some sequentially-related cars. More seriously, =
we may discover some subtle mid-model changes that affect technical =
concerns. &nbsp;I'll propose that each of us can pursue this at his/her =
option, unless Mike finds a glitch in being able to include this in the =
data. It would be neat to be able to search our cars by chassis number. =
If the data is available in the roster, Mike need do nothing more, a =
member can simply import the data to an Excel file, allowing one to =
&nbsp;organize and search by chassis number. =

range from "Tools, some parts, can come out &amp; help, limited garage =
space." to "Cold beer on hand at all times."<br><br>Comments can be =
anything else you'd care to add.<br><br>And it's all optional. One =
person just has his name, email address, and the line for his Magnette. =
Other people include all their special-interest cars (we don't list =
motorcycles or "regular" cars) and some history.<br><br>If you haven't =
