John,

Every Magnette that I have examined has both a body and a chassis number. As=
near as I can tell from my readings, the body number had significance to th=
e Pressed Steel body plant, probably to track batches of bodies before they w=
ere despached to Abingdon for final assembly and the assignment of a chassis=
/car number. The body number of my Magnette is 29738, chassis number KAA41/3=
5361 and a build date of 14 October through 17 October 1958. John Drake att=
empted to draw some sort of correlation between the body and chassis numbers=
of the MGAs when he was registrar, though I don't recall if he was successf=
ul.
