Check the radius arm bolts for tightness.  The nyloc nuts can unscrew
themselves, and when the bolt is not clamped tight you get weird clunks
at odd times.  Always use new nylocs

The back end of these cars is not complicated (unless you have a MkII
rotoflex, in which case good luck) and you can check all the bolts and
bushings in about half an hour.  Except for the diff rear mount, for
which you have to remove the diff.  In my experience perished bushes
here only cause clunks under takeoff, reverse or very hard acceleration.
If you have to retorque anything, use new nylocs and remember to replace
washers where you found them.

If everything looks good and tight and the bushes are not in 
conspicuously bad condition, then it's probably the UJs or the 
_inner_ shafts.  These latter are easily removed from the diff with
an allen key once you have the outer shafts off.  Of course to even
get this far you need a spring lifter...

Sorry to be so vague, but almost everything back there will clunk when 
it's loose, it's just the way that thing is built.
