Can't we suppose (generously) that the dog in paddock rule
is simply an extension of someone's concern that 1. pit traffic
is already fierce; 2 race cars are crochety beasts that don't
take kindly to being balked by heedless pickups, pedestrians,
all terrain vehicles/ bikes/carts driven by the underage, etc?
Why, I read that PanAm race marshalls would shoot a stray
dog on sight anywhere near their event -- but @ Roebling
Road a lost Walker hunting dog that was found in the car
roussel a few years back was rescued, named (Elvis) and
came to be regarded as a mascot.
