Why replace your mechanical pump? By far the most popular post to this list
and other LBC lists involve troubles with electric fuel pumps. Electric
pumps = additional non standard wiring and plumbing. The mechanical pump is
dead reliable, with no additional wiring hazards. Further more if the car
sits for a while, the time the mechanical takes to fill the float bowels
allows oil pressure to build up.

What are people running for electric fuel pumps? I replaced the mechanical
one
in the '58 so that I could make it to the Colorado Conclave, and all that
did
was waste my time and piss me off when it vapor locked every 3 miles (never
did make it to Conclave). It's time for an electric that works. What are
people running that supplies 3 psi? Any experience with the Facet pumps (the
block, not the cast plastic- I tried one and it died too) that push 3psi at
most? Any wiring tips for the Facet-i.e. do I need to attach the (-) wire to
the body of the pump as well as the (-) wire to keep it alive? (I'll isolate
the pump from the car body to limit vibration and isolate (-) and (+)).
