Paul,
For the past 34 years, I've used whatever my local MG dealer had in stock,
then, whatever my local parts guy stocked. However, to really keep things
relatively leak-free, it's been necessary to replace the valve cover gasket
each time I've adjusted the valves. No big deal, really, except that I
don't get as much free time to play with my cars anymore.
THEN, because the valve cover gaskets on my 356 were such a pain in the butt
to change, and usually leaked, anyway, I bought a set of Fel-Pro gaskets
from Vic Skirmants (Vic started having Fel Pro make them up for him, several
years ago). Not only do they stay in place on the valve cover, they also do
not leak and can be re-used for a LONG time. I just wanted to try them on
the Midget, too.
