Larry, I'm running 12.5:1 CR with no ping as long as the mixture is on the
rich side and you don't really push the advance. I'm running 31/32 degrees
max advance. Had the head off recently as I needed to put valve seals in
and saw no sign of detonation.
I did not see this question when it first cam around.
