Hi folks,
I've managed to swap rear springs from side to side.
Many thanks to the list for suggestions and encouragement, especially Guy R Day.
The good news is the sagging on the drivers side is now hardly noticeable and
the "clank" on cornering has gone away!
The rear shackle bushes were totally shot. I also replaced the shackles and
all hardware.
It was one of those jobs you are sorry you started but next year I'll be saying
"Oh yeah, that can be done in an hour or two."
Useful things to have include ratchet wrenches, magnetic bowl for putting
hardware in, and "mechanics gloves". "T*ts on a Boar Pig" Award goes to those
Craftman wrenches ("slip lock" or somesuch word) that make out you can tighten
a nut without ever taking the wrench of the nut. Seemed to work on the demo in
the store. If they didn't have a box end (ring) at the other end they would
have been hurled into the woods.
Onward and upward - please see my next question on tuning a 1500 Midget.
Regards, Adrian
