Yes! Take a large screw driver and put it behind the
crank pulley and pull forward. If there is a noticable
amount of fore and aft movement, it may have dropped
the thrust washers. If this is the case, do not run
the engine until they have been visually checked.
Running the engine without the thrusts in place will
destroy the crank and rear main area. Trust me on
this...I bought a running used engine but failed to
check this before the purchase and ended up with an
engine that was no good nor could it be repaired at a
reasonable cost.
