...we recently had to replace the hood release cable in our 69 Sprite. It
required removal of the grille in order to release the cable from the hood
latch, removal of a cable clip near the junction of left fender and
radiator fill-panel just before the cable enters the grommet and another
clip on footwell wall beneath steering column had to be bent up to release
cable. Then the nut on the cable at the engine side of the firewall was
threaded off the cable from beneath the car. Our replacement cable had a
round knob with a "B" insignia, and fit with no modifications.

All in all, it was a hassle for something as mundane as a simple cable, a
greasy job and full of sharp edges, but not that bad...not when compared to
bleeding the clutch slave cylinder...Damn!...everytime I think about that
proceedure my fifty-plus year old back protests!
