$200 - $300 will get you an RO under-sink system. I replace my filters every
2-3 years (it was 2.5 years this time) for about $60.
In doing a quick calc for bottled water, you can get a 24-bottle case of
16.9 oz bottles for $3.99 on sale. This is a hair under a penny an ounce
(0.98, the be exact). If you do a calc with your water rate, an use a10-year
period, amortizing the RO unit and filters, I' sure that you will get a
lower price for the RO system.
RO also makes better coffee and other things that are cooked with water.
Especially if you have chlorine in your water supply.
