if you can get it dipped, go for it. it wont affect the paint at all. if
they do a zinc plating on it, you could leave it out in the snow and rain in
bare metal and it wont do a thing to it. no precautions. its clean when you
get it back, meaning nothing hazardous is on the part when you get it back.
