Have you thought about installing a matched pair V6 with transmission  from a 
late model S10 or full size Chevy/GMC pickup or Camero? The new V6 options seem 
to have plenty of power, get reasonably good fuel economy, and you can find 
parts and someone to fix them almost anywhere. They are also physically shorter 
and close to 80 pounds lighter than a 350 and would not weigh the front end 
down. That makes it a bit easier on the steering. I know it is not a "muscle" 
motor but take a drive in a full size Chevy/GMC with a V6 and I think you might 
be impressed by what the motor will do. Best of luck...Bob Fentress
