All this talk of trashed trannys is making me Very nervous....
A couple of years ago, before the discovery of this list and other sources
of wisdom, I towed my donor Rover SD1 sedan with the rear wheels on the
ground... The rear end (!) detonated after 100 miles at @ 60 mph.
Afterwards, the transmission spun easily by hand in all gears, but as you
can guess by my sig line, has not yet run on the road.  I have way too much
time and energy invested in my MGB-V8 project to rely on a dubious tranny.
Anybody have a 1981 Rover/Triumph 5 speed, with .79:1 5th gear, in good
shape that you could spare?
