may I throw in my little bit about numbers.
I think all that has been said is pretty true.
Some 35 years ago I had quite a bit of time at the MG Factory in UK. They
allowed Colonials that pleasure in those days.
My memory seems to tell me that the A after the number meant Std bore. B
was + 0.010" and so on. But I think that only applied if the factory was
doing the work.
Certainly, not all engines carried 135 or 165 qualifications when knew.
It also seems that cars built for competition did not always have "PA" "P"
or "PB" on them. Kohlrausch's P was engine number 2443 A. I dispute the
fact that he ever purchased the other engine quoted by some.
EX127's engine was 74 P1A. This is what the car was designated as when it
left the factory in Kohlrausch's possession. Work that one out, if
you can.
