I very recently went through an exhaustive process of replacing a rack on a
TR3. I communicated with Moss and others in order to just replace the rack. I
did not want a complete conversion kit.
The conversion kit in the car was a pre-2010 product installed by
Racetorations. The new kits are completely different.
I found that Bastuck in Germany sells a kit that is exactly like the original,
pre-2010 kit, with heavy steel brackets on each side instead of a one piece
light gauge steel bracket in the new kit.
The Bastuck rack is a nice part and perfectly fit the old mounting brackets. I
discovered that their u-joints and steering shaft were also needed for a direct
bolt-in, because the size of the pinion housing is larger, so a shorter u-joint
and shaft assembly was needed.
