which explains the opening on many rear- and mid-engined race and street cars 
(the shelby CSX4000, for one):  there is the grill opening in front of the 
radiator which sits at about a 45 degree angle, the top leaning forward.  
behind and above the radiator the air exits below and forward of the base of 
the windshield and goes over the car.
