Mine resides in a '77 Morgan Plus Eight which was equipped with the SD1 &
Rover 5-speed box (bit of a clunker!). Standard output was 155hp (DIN) @
5250 rpm & 195lbs/ft of torque @ 2500 rpm complete with legal smog
gear(none!). I bought it fitted with a Crane stage 1 cam, twin SU's with
bell-mouths and ported heads which gave it 40 extra HP. What max torque
was/is I can't say, but seemed to be @ approx 3000 rpm. With that engine,
the Plus 8 will hit 60 in 5.3 secs(manual stop watch) and run the 1/4-mile
in 13.2secs with a T.Spd of 101mph - about 1-1/2 secs to 60, 2 secs & 9 mph
better than stock figures. It's empty weight is 1766lbs. With me in it, make
that 4766 lbs curb weight!
