Hi John,
The timing cover on the earlier Buick V6 should be the same. I beleive that
the timing marks might be different. I had the same problem as you on a 455
Pontiac I rebuilt in High School (damn, that was 20 years ago) after
grinding off the head I was able to remove the timing chain cover. Then a
few hours of soaking, and finally sharp smacks(not to hard) with a hammer
managed to break free the bolt.
