The problem isn't the gold, it's the power. And I believe a few influential
political rich-types have moved into the Laguna Seca area in the last few
years. They figured they're better than the people that have been using the
track for how many years and that they should have the right to sleep in
their million dollar homes while they live in the middle of a roadcourse
with race cars and bikes tearing around it.
As far as I'm concerned if you plan on building a house within 5 miles of a
racetrack/airport/railroad/etc. you better be sure to soundproof it and make
sure you can live with the pre-existing tenants. Some people think they're
more priveleged than that. These are the people that drive their Excursion's
and Escalade's to Andronico's so that you can charge your EV1. Now that I
think about it, maybe they should convert the track into an electric only
course, then they wouldn't have any noise problems.
Noel and Andy will both be at the event, and I'm hoping to go and show my
support so they can kick butt and I can say, "That's my buddy out there!
Yeah, I taught him how to drive like that." :-)
