Well, yes there are compelling reasons.
By giving us a place to play, a major contribution is made toward keeping
SOME of us off the streets and being involved with midnight drags, Side
Shows, etc.
The classic example is the closure about 1989 of the Fremont Drag Strip.
Since then there's been a considerable increase in street racing in the
Fremont area. Sadly that includes at least one fataility when a young lady
decided to cross the street for a better view.
