I have been an instigator in this whole rallycross
thing for years now and have some answers, maybe;

>So how hard is RallyCross on the car?

The premise is it will be just like autocross vs
roadracing wrgt "prorally". It should not be very hard
on the car. No jumps, no ditches, no trees, small
berms, short duration runs.

>How rough and gravelly is the field that you'll use?

The area to be used is the "meadow" at the track
entrance below the water tower. It is a large bowl
shaped area with a gentle rise of maybe 50 feet to it.
We had a proposed course disc plowed out there a
couple of years ago for those who frequent the place.
It all looked a bit like a freeway firebreak actually.
The terrain is not gravelly but gets plenty hard when
dry. Perhaps the disced clods will feel like rocks in
June though. We wanted to start the game in the wetter
time of year, but that mud is sooo sticky.....

>How do my chances of rolling change compared to
autocross, and how much damage should I expect my
[rental] car to incur? (I mean, I would want to get
my whole deposit back.)

This is one of the things that has taken so long to
get the program launced. The first events must have no
rollovers if the game is to continue. The subtlties of
course design to acheive this goal have been subject
to years of debate. It is very good that someone is
actually going to go out and do something instead of
just having another committee meeting.
That said, you are ultimately responsible for your
driving and such. Act responsibly and get through the
day without damage silly goose.
I doubt renting a car is what anyone ought to do, and
trying to return a rolled one will be a real lesson in
growing up I trust.
