Depends on what it's used for. The stock water pump WILL cavitate above 
about 7,000 rpm, but that is probably only a real issue for sustained high 
rpm excursions -- unlikely in a 60 sec. autocross, but a big deal at Sears 
Point.

You can install carbon based apex seals, too, but a similar situation as 
described above exists. The stock seals will have trouble maintaining 
compression at very high rpm's, which you would notice as a drop off in 
power.

The oil system can be upgraded cheaply as follows: Turbo II oil pump and 
chain, shim the front oil pressure regulator, and replace the stock rear 
regulator with a 3rd gen RX-7 unit. This will give you approximately 100 psi 
of oil pressure.

Mazda also sells hardened stationary gears and special bearings to better 
withstand high rpm situations.

The 89-91 normally aspirated rotors are also lighter and have higher 
compression, and may be a good idea.

I don't know how much of this is legal in whatever category you are 
considering.
