i have a set of wires that i want to put on my 64 tr4 in place of the steel wheels....do i need to play w/ or change the rear/ front axel? is it just a straight forward switch? pfm

It IS pretty much a straightforward switch. The major "alteration" consists of shortening the wheel studs by a small amount (3/8" sticks in my mind, but hopefully someone has the actual number handy

Done this one, Instead of cutting the studs off and having to stick with the wires, I had a machine shop make some 3/8" aluminum spacers. Just take one of your adapters to a machine shop and have the

Not so for a TR4. (It might not in a TR3.) On a TR4 the wire wheels (48 or 60 spokes) fit just fine inside the boot under the floor. Paddy - I think you got the right answers to your original convers

Mike Thompson has a good idea, but you don't have to have a spacer made for you at a machine shop. If you have a Pep Boys nearby, go and buy one of their aluminum spacers for the four hole bolt patte

ANSWER You don't have to change the axles (like on an MG) but you do have to change the wheel studs and nuts. (They are shorter so as to fit under the wheels. The disk wheel studs do not allow the w

This is the quickest way to alter the studs on the solid-axle TRs. On the IRS cars the rear studs are press fit; on the solid-axles the rear studs are threaded (7/16 NF) and then peened over once all
