Done this one,
Instead of cutting the studs off and having to stick with the wires, I
had a machine shop make some 3/8" aluminum spacers. Just take one of your
adapters to a machine shop and have them copy the flat part that goes
next to the brake drum. You will also need wire wheel nuts which are
beveled to clear the wheel. (steel wheel nuts will not work)
Now you can use both types of wheels. You know a wire wheel will not fit
in the spare tire compartment? Another plus. I autocross my TR3 sometimes
and generally like driving fast and don't trust a set of 48 spoke wires
to hold up, so I reserve wire use for parades and shows.

I converted from wires to steel on my GT6 and there is no need to change
the length of studs on that one.
