- IMO not all cars got this treatment... my TR4 is very original and certainly doesn't have it. Unfortunately, I see that the TRA guidelines unequivocally state that all covers had the material on them

- Oliver -- The steering column on a TR4 is adjustable (actually the adjustment is also the impact absorption device). The column can be moved after the jam nut & allen screw combination are loosened.

- I'd second the generator guess and add that the water pump is also suspect. My H2O pump made started making a similar noise. Easy to diagnose as noise went away with belt off, came back when I rigged

- If it is similar to a TR4 then that is how it goes. I use mild air pressure into the caliper (with the opposite piston inserted w/o seal) to inflate the boot and make it want to slip over the piston.
