- I do believe the correct battery is a Lucas size 27F. The F indicating a Ford application so the negative post is on the correct end. 27's are about the biggest common battery you can get. 24's will

- BTW, who makes the Optima? There are only about three battery makers in the U.S. these days: Exide, Interstate and (I believe its called) Johnson Controls. All the other names (Optima, Die-Hard, etc)
