Both my Explorer and my wife's Aerostar have the 4.0L V6 in them, and have their oil filters mounted on right angle adapters. I've never removed either, but they appear to be different dimensionally.

Could there be a problem with the "park" switch? The one that keeps them running until they are parked when you throw the switch to OFF. Could be age and wear have gotten to that. Stu
