I still believe that one of the alternator charging wires were left off and it slowly ran the battery down to the point where the car just did not have enough voltage to fire the car at higher RPMs

The only thing I can guess is that it is voltage related and involves the wiring through the solenoid not being reinstalled correctly or miss wiring in the new starter. The point is probably too low
