- I'm not sure about the restrictor in the air pump hose, but I can comment on the one in the valve cover tube: a 5/64" drill bit fits somewhat sloppily in the hole, whereas 3/32" won't go in at all.

- Supression plug wires will certainly help - but maybe reduce the size of the spark. Also, check the condition of the condensor (capacitor) in the distributor - it may be contributing to the problem.
