They maybe said 73 because that is when the factory V8 came out. But as has been said elsewhere the 4-cylinder did not adopt the V8 cooling system (and hence its body changes) until 77, by which time

This was a common conversion, in the UK at least, due to the problems with the Stag engine. The conversion usually necessitated bonnet louvres. PaulH.

Jarl, PaulK, thanks for the comments. The last couple of sets of pads I have fitted didn't come with shims so I have been transferring them from set to set. One of the BBSers seemed to be saying that
